Collaborative Project Final City Scene

This week we mainly distributed the city models more randomly to make them look more realistic and at the same time added window materials and building textures to the city models. At first, I use the mash lights to generally show some cyberpunk concepts. And then added some cyberpunk details to various parts of the city, such as holographic projections, billboards, and high-rise warning lights, Also add some fog and steam effects. At the same time set up the camera for the scene according to the storyboard.

Collaborative Project Opening Scene City Building

In the collaborative project, I’m mainly responsible for making the first scene in the storyboard. In the first scene of this animation, it is necessary to make the audience realize that this is a future cyberpunk style city at night, so in In the choice of building style, I borrowed from many urban styles in Japanese anime, and also adopted a certain neon effect in the treatment of lights and fog.

The buildings I made will be roughly divided into two parts, the front and the back, to serve the overall story more specifically. The tall buildings at the rear symbolize the nobility and privileged class in this future cyberpunk world, holding social All the resources are still plundered and exploited by ordinary poor people. On the contrary, the lower buildings in the front of the scene symbolize the ordinary people who are exploited and squeezed by the privileged class.

Nuke Garage Composition

In this week’s nuke project, I synthesized a 3D car into the original garage scene. First, I exported the camera in the garage scene and then imported it into Maya’s car scene. Then I lit the car in Maya and Paste the material, then combine the rendered car scene with the original garage scene, then make further color adjustments to the car in nuke, and then import the original car model into the 3D scene in nuke to add shadows to the bottom of the car.

VFX Career Research Job Role 3 – VFX Producer

The next role I want to research is commander in chief of a VFX project, and it links all VFX departments together and works for the same goal, making sure the VFX process is efficient and the final work is flawless. So the third role I research is VFX producer.

VFX producer is a very significant role in the whole VFX project. VFX Producer Manages the whole process of creating the VFX for film or TV. VFX producers write the bid, the document through which they persuade the film or TV series producer to take on their VFX studio to do the work. Also, the VFX producer put together a team of artists and technical staff. They set the schedules and manage the budget. They also communicate between the crew working on the film set and the VFX editor in the studio.

While on film sets, VFX producers work closely with the live-action production crew. In post-production, VFX producers collaborate with the editor as well. Between the editor and the crew, they communicate. The amount of customer interaction varies between studios. They might provide them weekly or even daily reports. Also VFX producer work with VFX Coordinators and Editorial, oversee and organise the turnover of VFX plates and elements; schedule and distribute work and client notes among internal resources. Also the job of VFX producer requires an accurate track of production and team performance, encouraging productivity, creative collaboration, and best practices along with the CG and Compositing Supervisors within the budgeted scope of work.

The ability that VFX producer require are organisation, they have to effectively plan and manage the project using VFX production pipeline organisation software, and be able to budget accurately. Also VFX producer have been confident in giving direction and leading a team, communicating well with everyone, and creating a positive atmosphere within the team and they need to understand all aspects of VFX pipelines, know the processes, the creative challenges and the software used by the artists. And more importantly, they have to anticipate any issues that might occur during the project and adapt to changing timescales and technical issues. VFX producer work closely with the director or producer of the production firm creating the movie. They collaborate closely with the VFX supervisor, who is in charge of the artistic job, within their own studio. To ensure that the job is completed on schedule, the VFX producer then collaborates with the production manager and production coordinators.

Through the study of these three special effects jobs, I have gained a deeper understanding of the workflow and work content of the entry and senior stages of the special effects industry, as well as a further plan for my career.
