Month: March 2023
In the group, I was mainly responsible for the environment, rendering, and sounds.
Through the project production of this collaborative unit, I have a more comprehensive and in-depth understanding of the animation production process and the technologies that need to be mastered, which has played a very important role in guiding my future VFX study. From the pre-planning of the animation film, it is especially important to determine the length and volume of the animation and to plan the animation production timeline in advance to provide more time for later synthesis and editing. The division of labor and communication between team members is very important when producing an animation, which can greatly enhance the efficiency of the production, while a clear division of labor will allow team members to focus their resources on their own work, so as to ensure the quality of each part of the production. In the process of making the model, I have a deeper understanding of the influence of the detail level of the model map on the overall model, and the influence of the light distribution on the final rendering effect. Working with the 2D animation students has given me a deeper understanding of the aesthetics of composition and color distribution, and their control of details is also worth learning. All in all, this collaborative project was a great opportunity for me to exercise my communication skills in the field of animation, and to discover my own shortcomings in the field of VFX production, which will provide me with important guidance for my future studies and the production of my works, and will benefit me a lot.
In this project, I used the Ghost Rider as my reference, first I made a skeleton model and finished its light design and rendering in Maya, and then the exported skeleton image sequence in Nuke for composition.

This week we mainly distributed the city models more randomly to make them look more realistic and at the same time added window materials and building textures to the city models. At first, I use the mash lights to generally show some cyberpunk concepts. And then added some cyberpunk details to various parts of the city, such as holographic projections, billboards, and high-rise warning lights, Also add some fog and steam effects. At the same time set up the camera for the scene according to the storyboard.

After this, Roos and I added sound and music to the short film

This week we use roto, rotopaint and smartvector to remove the face markers for the actress.

In the collaborative project, I’m mainly responsible for making the first scene in the storyboard. In the first scene of this animation, it is necessary to make the audience realize that this is a future cyberpunk style city at night, so in In the choice of building style, I borrowed from many urban styles in Japanese anime, and also adopted a certain neon effect in the treatment of lights and fog.

The buildings I made will be roughly divided into two parts, the front and the back, to serve the overall story more specifically. The tall buildings at the rear symbolize the nobility and privileged class in this future cyberpunk world, holding social All the resources are still plundered and exploited by ordinary poor people. On the contrary, the lower buildings in the front of the scene symbolize the ordinary people who are exploited and squeezed by the privileged class.

This is the story scene built by other members of our environment construction team, a main street, and an alley.

We also used some free city assets from FREE 3D Asset Kit: Neo City – KitBash3D and https://free3d.com/zh/
In this week’s nuke project, I synthesized a 3D car into the original garage scene. First, I exported the camera in the garage scene and then imported it into Maya’s car scene. Then I lit the car in Maya and Paste the material, then combine the rendered car scene with the original garage scene, then make further color adjustments to the car in nuke, and then import the original car model into the 3D scene in nuke to add shadows to the bottom of the car.

Collaborative Project 2D Animation
While we are working on the environment scene, our 2D animation team is also carefully making 2D animation for our scene
